What we are

“Come Together”

UkeHoot has been Edinburgh's weekly ukulele singalong since 2012. Pop, folk, a bit of rock’n’roll, and the odd novelty number nobody will own up to picking.

There’s no leader, no committee, no setlist handed down from on high. People turn up, someone kicks off a song, everyone piles in. That’s the entire agenda, and somehow it has outlasted a fistful of venues, a pandemic, and more Edinburgh festivals than we can count.

Where & when

“Anticipation”

We play every wednesdays from 7:30pm.

The Strathmore Bar, 17 Iona Street, Edinburgh EH6 8SG. Find us on the map →

Festival season is Edinburgh's silly season and it can shuffle us about, and we're starting to pop up at a few spots beyond the city too. Check Facebook for where to be that week before you set off.

Catch us live

“Saturday Night”

Once a month we plug in and play out.

Third Saturday of the month, we take over Captain's Bar from 8:30pm til the strings give out. Find the bar →

Come watch, sing along, heckle gently.

How to join

“With a Little Help From My Friends”

Nothing to sign, no fee, no audition. Just turn up. To get in the loop:

  • WhatsApp is where it all happens: who's coming, what we're playing, gear envy and the occasional terrible pun. Join the WhatsApp →
  • Brand new to the uke? Now and then a willing volunteer runs a beginners' session. No schedule, no charge, just ask on WhatsApp.
  • New and want a flick through first? Our songbook lives in the WhatsApp community. Join and it’s yours →

What to bring & how it works

“Should I Stay or Should I Go”

  • A ukulele, if you've got one. If not, we can usually lend you a spare.
  • That's it. Songbooks are shared on the night.
  • All levels welcome. We play at a friendly, follow-along pace and nobody's marking your chord shapes.
  • It all happens in a proper Edinburgh pub, so come for a tune and stay for a pint.

So, should you stay or should you go? Stay.

Stay in the loop

“Hello, Goodbye”

Venue changes, one-off gigs, festival chaos: it lands on Facebook first, so that's the one to follow. WhatsApp is for the regulars.

Bookings, questions, or just saying hello?
